One of the most important things I learned as a
Ramah staff member was to listen carefully and elicit information
that would enable me to better address the concerns and needs of
my campers and fellow staff. This has proved immeasurably valuable
in my career as a physician because these skills are critical to
effective communication with patients and proper diagnosis and management
of disease. In addition, the experience of learning to work as a
team for a common goal has enabled me to nurture teamwork in my
own medical practice, which is so essential to optimizing patient
outcomes in a surgical field like mine.
